俳句が世界に広がって1世紀。今や俳句を楽しむ人口は何百万という数です。ところが俳句は絵と違ってビジュアルで出てこないため、その広がりの実体すら知らない人たちが多いです。

そこでこの本では、東洋の筆で西洋の文字を描く、新しい文字アートの筆グラフィーを使って俳句を描いてみました。また様々な絵や写真、そして紙も工夫して視覚的にも俳句を楽しめるように試みました。

「俳句」とは、分かりやすく言えば、一瞬の印象を言葉で切り取る写真のようなものです。旅に出て夕日がきれいだと思ったら、他の要素はできるだけ省き、一番印象に残ったことを言葉に込めます。

俳句に詠んだ風景や出来事は特別に記憶に残ります。それゆえ、それらをつなげば「自分の人生そのもの」が浮かび上がります。あなたも短い3行詩の俳句作って楽しんでみませんか?

 

It has been almost one hundred years since Haiku became known to the world. Presently there are millions of Haiku lovers. However, unlike drawings and paintings, Haiku cannot be expressed visually, so not may people know how widely they are enjoyed.

 

So, with this book, the haiku was drawn impressively using brush (fude). "Fudegraphy" is a new type of word art. That is to write Western-style characters with an Eastern-style pen.

Moreover, various pictures, a photograph,  and paper were also devised, so that the haiku could be enjoyed also visually. 

 

To explain simply, a haiku is like taking a photo in words of one moment in time. For example, if, while travelling, one thought a particular sunset was beautiful, one's strongest impressions would be condensed into words, leaving out other irrelevant elements. 

 

The scenery and occurrence which were composed in the haiku poem remain in memory specially.  So, if they are connected, your life will emerge. Let's enjoy making of short three-line poetry "Haiku" !
